Our Company

Thirty years ago, the seeds of Cooper Expedition Gear were sown by two brothers in a Central California town. Spending their summers exploring the Sierra Nevada’s, the majestic coastal redwoods, and the California coast, the brothers spent an enormous amount of time with nature. Whether in the mountains, deserts, or coasts of North America, the wilds of Africa, the cornucopia of cultures Europe has to offer, or the exotica of Asia, they found that durable and dependable gear was a mainstay. Cooper Expedition Gear is the culmination of that experience. Their priority is to offer simple, steadfast, durable, and dependable gear to support your adventures.

Kris Cooper

Owner

Kris grew up in California, spending his summers surfing the west coast. He also spent entire summers exploring the wilds of the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin, and Joshua Tree National Park as a wildland firefighter. Spending so much time hiking through the wilds of the western states as a professional firefighter for nearly a decade, Kris understands that hard use quality gear is a must. This is especially true when your life depends on it. He maintains the same mindset as a municipal firefighter today.

Michael Cooper

Owner

Michael has been active in the outdoors for most of his life, backpacking the Sierra Nevada’s, surfing in Baja Mexico, shooting for recreation, overlanding through Africa, trekking through the valleys of the Hindu Kush, exploring the wilds of Thailand, and experiencing the cultures of Europe. He’s spent nearly twenty years serving in the US military putting himself in harm’s way. He understands the importance of dependable gear.

Michael applies the ethos of “Be Prepared” into everyday life, regardless of how large or small the excursion is. Cooper Expedition Gear is a natural extension of that mindset. Michael currently lives in San Francisco where he spends time exploring the urban terrain. He is a firm believer in the adage of “Adventure Is Where You Find It”.
